On July 29th, 2006 SunRoot held its 2nd annual Garlic Festival. More than four hundred people attended from all over Nova Scotia and beyond! The day included workshops on garlic growing, braiding, and medicinal uses, a musical performance by a children’s band, “The Wilderbeats”, a community marketplace, kid’s activities, and a multicultural food tent. Community Voice participants were involved in planning the day, soliciting food donations, making and selling food, selling crafts and silent auction tickets, and talking about the program to interested attendees.
